Recommended ~ Free Will, Renewing Your Mind with the late RC Sproul

By not acting, not making choices we stagnate where we are... RC Sproul makes a great case of understanding what our free will as Christians is. As he illustrates using the story of Alice in Wonderland, Alice comes to a fork in the road. She does not know where to go/what to do. 

The Cheshire cat asks her where does she want to go and her answer is that she does not know... so the cat says, then you have no problem making a choice. That's exactly how we should view, as Christians, free will. 

We know where we want to go and our choice is thus a rational choice or at least as rational as anyone's... who knows where they want to go. Now, of course, Alice could just sit there waiting for direction but she already knows the direction... as we do being Christians.
