Tolerance is not Affirmation of Sin

Today, at the prayer breakfast we heard this statement... "There is a tendency in us, a sinful tendency that can pervert and distort our faith. And in today's world when hate groups have their own Twitter accounts and bigotry can fester in hidden places in cyberspace, it can be even harder to combat such intolerance. But God compels us to try". ~ Pres. Barack Obama

While, I could agree, I would have to add to that that we as Christians must be mindful that this is a corrupt world, a sinful world. Christians in this world are not perfect and cannot be; but yes, God compels us to try. With this realization, we must not give up striving to live a godly life and show others the way. This does not mean we affirm sinful behavior. No, we do not affirm it nor encourage it nor say that it is OK. Yes, we can and should tolerate people as all people are sinful. We too who struggle with sin in recognizing our sin must at the same time be salt and light for others; letting them know that sin cannot not tolerated. Yet, there is hope and salvation for those that change their life from pursuing sin to pursuing a godly life.
