Live no longer as the Gentiles... in the world. There are numerous scripture that tell us how to Not be of this world. That we cannot live in both the Kingdom of God and this world. Those scriptures that come to mind can be found in John, 1 John and 1 Cor and many many others. Why? Because it was essentially Jesus's purpose to show us that this world is passing away and only the world that is God's Kingdom is eternal. Though born into this world, we are overcomers through Jesus Christ ~ 1 John 5:4.
So Remember... You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the
devil--the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit
at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God ~ Ephesians 2:2.
"With the Lord's authority I [Paul] say this: Live no longer as the
Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. Their minds are full of
darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have
closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. They have no
sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice
every kid of impurity. But that isn't what you learned about Christ.
Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes
from him, throw off you old sinful nature and your former way of life,
which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew
your thoughts and attitudes.
Put on your new nature, created to be like
God, truly righteous and holy. So stop telling lies. Let us tell our
neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. And don't
sin by letting anger control you. Don't let the sun go down while you
are still angry, for anger gives a foot hold to the devil. If you are a
thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and
then give generously to others in need.
Don't use foul or abusive
language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words
will be an encouragement o o those who hear them. And do not bring
sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has
identified you as his won, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the
day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger harsh words
and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to
each other tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through
Christ has forgiven you" ~ Ephesians 4:17-32.
One cannot live in two worlds ~ 1 John 2:15. Seek the Kingdom of God above all Else! Matthew 6:33.
Alive in Christ
As for you, you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is no at work in the sons of disobedience. We
all lived among them at one time in the cravings of our flesh,
indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature
children of wrath.… Ephesians 2: 1-3.
