Adam and Eve tried to cover themselves with fig leaves to hide their sin. This was essentially the first act of religiosity - religion. Thus, religion is an attempt to cover sin. It is man's attempt to redeem him/herself and that is not possible. Its not possible and that is why 'religion' is always a failure in this respect.
I heard Dr. Chuck Missler say that the most anti-religious person was Jesus Christ. Now, for some of you that might be horrifying; but it is the truth. Jesus gave people the Good News, fed them for coming to see Him and then He sent them away. "A total of four thousand men were fed, in addition to women and children. After having dismissed the crowds, Jesus got into a boat and went to Magadan..." ~ Matthew 15:39."
Why did Jesus send the people away? Jesus sent the people away in order that the Good News was not made into 'religion' which causes works not of Him but of men. It is by grace that we are saved so that no one can boast ~ Ephesians 2:8-9.
Think about it. The work of men can do nothing. When Adam and Eve sinned and tried to cover themselves with fig leaves to hide their sin; this was work (s). God replaced it with an animal skin to show them that they can do nothing. God instructed them that only the Blood of the Lamb can now redeem man's sin. It is Christ's blood shed on the cross that redeems. Neither a man nor woman 'mankind' can do any 'good' works to redeem him/herself. Jesus Christ did it all on the cross, by His Stripes we are healed.
Jesus
came to proclaim the Good News (the Word of God) to mankind! And, what
was/is mankind's condition? Mankind's condition then and now is being:
poor, captive, blind and oppressed! Poor in spirit - lacking the Word
'Light of the World' and the Blessings
in it that are only of the Kingdom of God, being captive in sin, being
blind to his/her own condition, and oppressed by the powers of evil. Who
can deliver us, who can do/did the Work that needs to be done in this
case? Jesus Christ! What works are we to be known for ~ Praising the
Lord Jesus Christ for all His Good Works for mankind- human beings!
When it comes to 'works', know that as Christians we work only for the Lord, we do not work
for people ~ Col 3:23. Do only as Jesus did, proclaim the Good News which is that only Jesus Christ is the Bread of Life, the Creator of all things seen and unseen, the Light of the World and our Redeemer ~ John 6:35, Col 1:16, John 8:12 and Isaiah 44:6.
"This is what the LORD says-- Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD
Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no
God ~ Isaiah 44:6
1 Co 4 Paul said "I should be looked upon as Christ's servant who distributes God's blessings by explaining God's secrets."

Serve Him in the place where you are, Praise His Holy Name!
We can wonder what does God want us to do? How can we serve Him? Sing Praise to the Lord Jesus Christ, and proclaim the Good News! And, tell the world that He alone is the Holy One, He alone is Lord, Most High and the Creator of all things seen and unseen ~ COl 1:16.
You can serve God in the place where you are? Jesus's public ministry began with teaching in the synagogues of Galilee and was praised by all. And, He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood reading from the book of Isaiah. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord." Luke 4:14-19.
Jesus came to proclaim the Good News (the Word of God) to mankind! Why? Because of the condition of mankind. And, what was/is mankind's condition? Mankind's condition then and now is being: poor, captive, blind and oppressed! Poor in spirit - lacking the Word 'Light of the World' and the Blessings in it that are only of the Kingdom of God, being captive in sin, being blind to his/her own condition, and oppressed by the powers of evil.
Who can deliver us, who can do/did the Work that needed and needs to be done in this case, in and for this fallen world? Jesus Christ! His Work at the cross is now our work but a joyous one indeed for we are free indeed in Jesus Christ ~ John 8:36. What works are we to do/ be known for ~ Praising the Lord Jesus Christ for all His Good Works that He alone did for mankind- human beings! "Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name" ~ Psalm 103:1.

God made them male and female and From one man He made all the nations!
God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He create them. God
blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill
the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over
the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the
earth."…~ Genesis 1:27-28.
Jesus answered, "Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female' ~ Matthew 19:4..., from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female" ~ Mark 10:6.
…‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh~ Mark 10:7-8.
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh ~ Genesis 2:24. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate" ~ Mark 10:9.
Popular thinking is of the flesh and popular thinking never changes. What was popular before in terms of the flesh is still popular; especially sexual immorality. That is why the Bible gives us God's the above guidelines for a godly union.
There are other popular ideas out there. One is that Adam and Eve were just symbolic of many early men and women. Wrong! From one man God created mankind. There were no groups and or pockets of men and women all over the world. God started with only one man.
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us" ~ Acts 17:24-27.

Caught up in the ways this world!
Its easy to get caught up in the ways of this world. And, it shows in our community churches... where we see 'well intended' people working to work to show God that they have been born again. If that is your way of thinking about being born again, you have not been born again.
Showing God that you have been born again is actually works of the flesh. Showing other people that you have been a 'good' Christian is a work of the flesh and not of the Holy Spirit. It is in our acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ, we realize that He did all the work for us. All we need to do is rest in His Presence. Trusting that He has all our worries, our needs, our sadness in His pocket.
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world. The world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God remains forever. Children, it is the last hour; and just as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. This is how we know it is the last hour.…~ 1 John 2:16-18
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world~ John 15:19.
