Indeed, to worship God is to walk according to the spirit… not the flesh. We need only to call on Him as we would a Father … first by giving Him thanks and praise for every breath, for every day we live, move and have our being in Him.
We reach out to Him from the place where we are to the place where He is. And, He is never far from us for the Kingdom is within. And, to realize that wonderful truth doesn’t take much more than a little faith… if you had faith as a mustard seed you can do great things.
Faith in God… worshiping God in faith is what He asks from us more than anything else. We must remember that the power of the Kingdom is present with the church, but the church is not a building or a denomination. All sorts of people can be in a church service or on a church’s rolls.
All kinds of people can belong to a denomination. But only those who are born again, filled with the Holy Spirit having placed their faith firmly in Jesus Christ, will have had their names written in the Lamb’s book of life!
Many “churchgoers” appear to be pro-Jesus. They sing songs, they listen to preaching. They say they love God. They think or feel that they are near the Kingdom but actually only within the margins of its power. They claim to believe in Jesus and say they are awaiting His return but they don't walk according to the spirit in this fallen world.
Let’s consider the parable of the ten virgins in this regard. The proof is in whether or not church going people have been wise or foolish as it was with the ten virgins. If you are wise, you are prepared to wait for the bridegroom; even if He delays.
In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus draws a similar distinction between the wise and foolish who were among His listeners. If you are wise, you will hear His words and heed them; if you are foolish, you will hear His words but disregard them.
The parables and teachings of Jesus were always and still are directed toward two groups of people - the wise and the foolish. These same two groups of people are at the heart of the parable of the 10 virgins. In fact, they are the same two groups of people that appear in all of Jesus’s parables and all of His teachings.
What could be more joyful than to be celebrants in the presence of Jesus Christ for all eternity? On the other hand, what misery could compare to the heartbreaking truth that we were so close to the kingdom, yet failed to enter it? Do not be foolish, but wise.
If you are wise, you are prepared to wait for the bridegroom if He delays. For being wise is having faith and trusting that Jesus is who He says He is and that He is Coming back. So, Run the good race, stand firm til the end which is the day of His Coming.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain ~ 1 COR 15:58.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again… Galatians 5:1.
John 8:36
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed…be patient and stand firm,
because the Lord's coming is near ~ James 5:8.
